You're right. It's a mature viewpoint to see it that way, even if it's not always an easy one. And therapists are underrated in my opinion. I owe a lot to one that I had in particular so I would never discount the advantages to seeing them.

[Forget that the ethics of that particular situation were questionable at best; he's also trying to let it go.]
