Nathan doesn't venture out into Christchurch all that often. He knows it's a bit irrational of him, and he's not really publicly Numbered anyway -- though he sometimes gets assumptions based on his natural pallor and white hair -- but he worries about larger cities occasionally. But it had been necessary to come here today, even if he'd wound up staying longer than he'd intended.
The ghosts are unsettling enough back in Shepherd's Haven. Seeing them in a city is somehow even more surreal.
He keeps his head down for the most part, but the reaction the other young man is having does not go unnoticed. It's out of place, given the lack of reactions from any others in the vicinity. Nathan stops briefly, considering. He doesn't want to intrude, but just passing by seems callous.
Finally, he decides. His approach is tentative, quiet. He looks sort of ghostly himself, albeit fully solid. "Ah, excuse me. Are you alright?"
That's a silly question, isn't it? It sounds like a silly question to Nathan, anyway. But there hardly seems anything else to say.
