Jacob furrows his brow in confusion and almost disbelief. From his previous life experience, ghosts don't just idle along, they follow you. Sometimes for the worst. He takes another look at the ghost, trying to say he'll get past it on his own. But, his face pales instead and he has to steady his knees. He doesn't want to go near it, whether he has company or not. Then he looks back to Jasmine. He lets out a sigh and speaks up again.
"I'll have you know, I'm not entirely useless," he says politely. He looks Jasmine over. "I have a bit of magic. Kind of like you, assuming that's how you're hovering. And though I appreciate the offer, shouldn't it be I who offers to walk you home safely?"
His last sentence is kind of a front. He's fully aware that she could probably handle herself. But, maybe if he could feel like he was protecting her, then he might be able to put his fear aside enough to get away from the ghosts.
